My word...

The dramatic sense of build-up is superb. And you wonder why you hit gold-label with this one? Also, you appear to have found a flute sound that isn't gay and weedy; what program do you use? There is a simple reason all your works score so highly, and that's "because you are good at writing music". Simple as that. Well done on this one's success.

MaestroSorrow responds:

Many thanks Grumble, I use Fruity Studio's 5, however the sounds you hear are not related to Fruity Studio's. Email me if you want, and I can tell you in full detail about the VST plug-in's I use to create these sounds.

Thanks for the review ^^

I like where you are going with this

The overall mood of this song is pretty sombre; I picture a bleeding comrade-in-arms uttering his last words before he passes on. I'm not normally a fan of reverse cymbals, but you've used them to good effect. I felt the bridge where the brass appears for the first time was a little hollow; the depth that the rest of the song had was gone. Maybe it's personal taste but I think a french horn would substitute well at that point. Your music is still underrated in my opinion, you're high up in my books. 5 again.

LoneEagle responds:

I like your imagination and how you put picutres to my music. Well i knew that putting another melody was weird, but i didn't want to leave the song empty with just the piano and the bass.

There is a french horn hidden in there with tuba amd 2 other sounds. It's just that you can't hear it above the other instruments.

As for being underrated, i really don't know what to say. For starters, im flattered that you think this way about my music, thank you. But then, i think it's too soon to say anything about my rating, i mean, i've only been here for 2 months, so i'm gonna let time decide the outcome of this.

Thanks for the nice review and vote.

Underrated

Short and sweet this tune, got me nodding to it. Sounds to me like the penultimate stage to a snes side-scoller, its got enough energy to be so. Good work on this one.

Apologies for the response on "Wild and Dangerous" if it read a little off; I had a bad day and courteous linguistics had escaped me.

LoneEagle responds:

Thanks for the review man. Don't worry about about that wild and dangerous thing. It's an ok response. I was just trying to say that you don't find that kind of talent music in that industry.

Lovely Stuff

Newgrounds really needs a "Film" genre; I think this would fit right into it, seeing as its not strictly classical (with the drum kit 'n' all), but you couldn't put it anywhere else, and classical is the next closest thing I guess. Very good music, somewhat dark I feel; I imagine a grim monologue over the top with stylish b/w film cuts. 5 from me anyways, good work!

MilkMan-Dan responds:

YES a FILM GENRE!... now theres an idea. For the longest time I put my music in Miscellenius because I didn't feel it belonged in classical. But now I see that's where it fits best. Remember... this isn't just me... this is me AND MaestroSorrow... the greatest classical artist here :P.

Pretty Good Stuff

I've always liked the Megaman X series music, and this one is pretty good stuff. Your audio levels are spot on, none overpowering the others at all. This seems to be the only song that can get away with the cardinal sin of music, the orchestra hit. My one gripe is the main melody; it lacks the same power as the rest of the music. Is there a way with your program to increase the attack setting? Otherwise, nigh on perfect.

LoneEagle responds:

I too like, or more love the Mega Man X series music. I try to have like you say, no instruments too loud and overpowering the others. It's very important that everything gets heard clearly.

Yea it's pretty weird for this song to have orchestral hits like that, but they really feel nice.

Yes i could of haved something to make the main melody like the rest of the song, but i was thinking, make it like the original. My thoughts did not go any farther than that. But that's one thing i'll be on the lookout for now.

Thanks for the review.

Balance my friend.

Your guitar playing is very nice, if not a bit too widdly in places it shouldn't be (like a born musician). However, it sounds like Cakewalk or similar calibre package in the background, and it shows. Its asking much, but if you can get hold of a better midi package, it'll complement your guitar and tie the whole thing together much better too, raising the quality tenfold. Your talent shouldn't be brought down by sub par midi music in the background.

TritoneAngel responds:

Thanks for the review, and the advice dude. I'm looking into some other midi programs, I just went with what's handy.

I've heard this before...

...I've used the electric piano loop in a soundtrack for one of my films! Do you use GarageBand perchance? Still nice but I had to give you a lower score as a result.

Bobhellbringer responds:

yea i use garageband, as a result of what

Really Good

Trance isn't really my cup of tea, but it has been put together well; sounds like you have a decent setup. Whether anyone else will think this I don't know but it reminds me of Numa Numa Ie.

Nice attempt

I can see where your influence is coming from. I suppose it's a slightly different take on "last level" music, but it's not quite there. It's Classical in pretty much every sense of the word; it's too "perfect", not enough dissonance or tension for end game music, and the instances in which it does appear falls into the Classical formulae. As a piece on it's own it is great though, and was well worth doing. For your original intention it's fallen slightly short of the mark.

afliXion responds:

Yes, it is very classical, just like all myself. I am a classicaly trained musician, its all I know. But anyway thanks for writing the review, and I do appreciate your comments. :)
