Nice.

Is this theme also the Temple of Fiends theme?

I have one word for you.

Widdly.

Need I say more? Great job again on this one; how many more songs can you insert solos into?

TritoneAngel responds:

Thanks for the review man! Glad to have achieved the coveted "widdly" designation!

People often confuse the Underwater Temple with the Temple of Fiends theme songs -- partially because a few people on vgmusic submitted midis for each area with the wrong name! The two songs are similar, but definitely different. This one is from Kraken's Lair. The Underwater Temple theme sounds a little more... triumphant, I guess. Slightly different melody, but a similar tempo, rhythm and structure. They're easily mistaken for one another. (I used to get them mixed up all the time too. No worries man!)

And on the solos thing -- I'm a guitarist; I can insert solos into ANYTHING. It's axe-sturbation at every turn! I felt like most of my submissions didn't really showcase a lot of leads, so I wanted to start putting that in a little more, since it's my primary interest. Glad you enjoyed it man! There's a lot more to come.

Great to see you back

I like the opening; I love bitcrushing effects. The part after the opening has an anime feeling; like there is some man standing on a hill silhouetted by the moon looking down into a valley. You know, typical big coat flapping in the breeze. From there the guy leaps down into the valley and continues on whatever journey he must make.

The general makeup is pretty good, your percussion skills have improved too. If anything, the piano is a bit flat, but all the other aspects complement themselves so well it barely matters.

You get my 5. Keep it up!

LoneEagle responds:

HA! Now I picture the same thing that you do when I listen to this song, before that i didn't really picture alot, a guy looking for his path in life "the path within" or something like that :D

Yea the first thing that i composed on this song was the drums instead of the melody and it turned out pretty good.

Thanks for the review and the vote, both are very appreciated :D

Respect is due

Anyone with the guts to attempt to play those whacky time signature changes needs a hefty pat on the back. Anyone who gets it right needs a small fanboy following him around and worshipping the ground he walks on (I'm not small so not me). Supoib!

ZombiePosessor responds:

Yeah those time signatures were a bitch. Thanks for the review!

Need more Megaman X stuff...

The X series has provided by far some of the best and most catchy music from games ever. More covers like this are needed (I'm trying my hardest too...). This version is very accurate, can't really say anything about it; more, MOOORRRRREEEE...

ZombiePosessor responds:

Heh, you'll get more, just wait

Prefer this one

For some reason it just sounds better in this key to me. I don't know what key the real one is in though! Both are still good, I just like this one more.

So, hands up who wants to remake Megaman X with you? (ooh, ooh, mememememeeee!) Check in on me sometime, OK (shameless plug)?

TritoneAngel responds:

Giggidy! Will do dude. Mega Man X had some really other worldly music dude.

I like this one better too. Thanks for the review!

Love it

VERY heavy, very heavy indeed. If megaman X were remade, I'd imagine the music to be like this. Really good stuff again.

TritoneAngel responds:

Thanks man! I think so too - that midi-ish sounding music for Sigma just doesn't do him justice. He's a bad dude, and he needs some heavy guitars. :)

Spaced so much

Overall feeling was so calm, tranquil. Personally I though the kit was a little too punchy; had you considered lowering the volume and/or the cutoff point for the drum track? Some reverb, or even a little echo, could work really nicely for this. I didn't feel there was much else going on; I could have done with another track appearing somewhere, like a soft pad in a high register to assist the harmony. It's lovely anyway, so keep up the good work.

shootingBLiND responds:

yea i know, at the time i made this i wasnt to familiar with the importance of reverb, delay and all of that, im trying to get better as i go, thanx for the input

Ooh, pretty...

I was never a fan of trance, but at this tempo I find it listenable. The first half (before the main trance beat begins) is very usable in a flash, because of it's generic nature; everyone can listen and not be offended. Playing with phase and flange is always fun too :). Not much I can say about it, it's not my field, but I like it anyways.

shootingBLiND responds:

thanks grumble i was beginning to think u'd never review me... yea, its a simple tune that just came to me, i was stuck in my head so idecided to make this thanx again

Sounds like classic Dr. Who

I very much liked the opening, but once the main melody arrived, it got a little too stagnant and dirgy, it could have done with an instrument change to something a little softer.

3/5

What's Lufia?

Not having a snes was a pain.

Bearing in mind this is two years old, it's still better than a lot of things I've heard. It does sound a little flat, no dynamic variation except the snare, which began to grate after a while, but if that's how the song went, that's how the song went. The rest of it was nice though.

4/5

LoneEagle responds:

Heh! Lufia is a super nintendo rpg of course :) Not all of it's music is good but alot of it is great, well in my opinion.

This is a 2 years old remake... Yea about the snares, that's not exactly 100% how the song went. Because back then i couldn't reproduce the snares to perfection, but it's something very similar.

Thanks a bunch for the review :D
If you like rpgs, go try lufia 2 out :D
